Small Hole Repairs — From $199

\n

\n

\n

Small holes (under 15cm) are the most common repair we see — doorknob impacts, curtain rod pullouts, towel bar anchors, trade access cutouts. Most are done in a single visit to a smooth paint-ready finish.

\n

\n

\n

The $199 minimum covers mobilization, surface protection, repair steps, and cleanup. Even a small hole takes proper backing, compound build-up, and sanding. For a detailed breakdown of exactly what the $199 covers, see our small drywall hole repair cost page.

\n

\n

\n

Medium Holes and Trade Cutouts — $250 to $400

\n

\n

\n

Holes in the 15–30cm range — standard plumbing or electrical access cutouts, larger impact damage — typically run $250 to $400. These jobs usually need a backing board screwed behind the opening before the patch can be built, which adds time. Compound needs to be feathered wider and may require two coats with drying time in between, sometimes pushing the job to two visits.

\n

\n

\n

Large Holes and Panel Replacement — $400 to $600+

\n

\n

\n

Holes larger than 30cm, or any damage that spans a full drywall bay, require a new section of drywall screwed to studs or a backer frame. Seams are taped, compounded in multiple coats, and sanded to blend. These jobs almost always need two visits — one to frame and hang, a second after the compound has fully dried to sand and finish. Travel and parking fees may apply in downtown Toronto and dense condo buildings.

\n

\n

\n

Water Damage — $350 to $600+

\n

\n

\n

Water-damaged drywall must be fully dry before any repair starts — attempting to patch wet or damp drywall leads to compound failure and mould risk. Once the leak source is fixed and the area is dry, we cut out the damaged section, inspect the framing behind it, and replace with new drywall. Pricing reflects the cut-out, inspection, replacement panel, and multi-coat finish. Hidden moisture or saturated insulation adds scope and cost.

\n

\n

\n

Texture Matching — Add $75 to $150

\n

\n

\n

Smooth walls are the easiest finish to match. Textured walls — popcorn ceilings, orange peel, knockdown — require an additional step to replicate the existing pattern. The add-on depends on texture complexity and how large an area needs blending. Popcorn ceiling texture is the most time-consuming and is often done as a separate visit to allow the base coat to cure first.

What Drives the Price Up

\n

\n

\n

    \n

    \n

  • No solid backing behind a cutout — adds time to frame before patching
  • \n

    \n

    \n

  • Hidden moisture — slows drying, adds inspection and drying time
  • \n

    \n

    \n

  • Crumbling gypsum that won’t hold a clean edge
  • \n

    \n

    \n

  • Rework after a failed DIY attempt — compound must be removed before rebuilding
  • \n

    \n

    \n

  • Texture matching on complex patterns
  • \n

    \n

    \n

  • Travel and parking in downtown Toronto and high-density condo buildings
  • \n

    \n

    \n

  • Multi-repair punch lists — more holes in one visit is efficient, but scope affects total price
  • \n

    \n

\n

\n

\n

One Visit vs. Two Visits

\n

\n

\n

Most small repairs complete in one visit to a paint-ready finish. Paint always requires a second visit — joint compound must dry fully before priming, and applying paint over wet compound causes soft spots and finish failure. Larger jobs and water damage repairs almost always run two visits by default due to drying time between compound coats.

\n

\n

\n

DIY vs. Calling Fixrr

\n

\n

\n

Nail holes and small dents are genuinely manageable DIY work with the right materials and patience. See our step-by-step drywall repair guide for jobs you can tackle yourself.

\n

\n

\n

Call us when: the hole is larger than a golf ball, you suspect moisture behind the wall, the finish is textured and needs matching, or a previous DIY patch didn’t hold. Failed DIY repairs typically add $200–$400 to the final cost once we remove and rebuild the original work.

FAQ

\n

\n

\n

Why does drywall repair start at $199? Even a small hole requires mobilization, surface protection, proper backing and compound build-up, sanding, and cleanup. The minimum reflects the real time and materials involved in a proper repair.

\n

\n

\n

Why does paint need a second visit? Joint compound must dry completely before priming. Painting over wet compound causes soft spots, bubbling, and visible failure — the second visit protects the quality of the finish.

\n

\n

\n

Can you match my existing texture? Yes — popcorn, orange peel, knockdown, and smooth finishes. Complex textures add cost and sometimes an extra visit to allow the base coat to cure before texture is applied.

\n

\n

\n

Do you work in condos? Yes. Travel and parking fees apply in some downtown Toronto and condo areas.

\n

\n

\n

Do you handle water damage? Yes, once the leak source is confirmed fixed. We cut out the damaged section, inspect the framing, and replace with new drywall to a paint-ready finish.
